Meet the Team: Alexandra Szczupak, MD, FACOG
IVFMD is pleased to announce our newest physician, Dr. Alexandra Szczupak! We are thrilled to have another fabulous physician join our IVFMD family!
Dr. Alexandra (Ali) Szczupak is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist who is fellowship-trained in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Szczupak speaks both Spanish and English and is now accepting patients at IVFMD’s South Miami location.
As a Miami native, Dr. Szczupak is excited to give back to the community that shaped her as a person and helped her grow.
“I can’t wait to help the women in this area achieve their goals and create the families that they have always dreamed of.”
We spoke with Dr. Szczupak to learn how she approaches patient care and what motivates her to help people become parents.
How do you approach patient care?
“I try to always put myself in my patient’s shoes and understand their specific background. I know that all patients have a different story which impacts their fertility journey and the way that they may cope. I also realize that all patients have different goals and try to keep that at the forefront of our conversations as we navigate their reproductive journey together.”
“I am understanding, compassionate and driven. I employ evidence-based medicine and always use a team-based approach where I allow my patients to play a primary role in decisions.”
“I can’t wait to help you build your family!”
What is the transformation you see your patients go through?
“When patients first come to see me, they are often confused, scared and unsure. After meeting with them, exploring the reason behind their infertility and uncovering their family planning goals, I see my patients become educated, confident, and hopeful for the future.”
Why did you become a REI?
“I started my career in OB/GYN because I am passionate about women’s health; specifically, female reproduction. Throughout my training, I found fertility fascinating because of the science behind it. I see it as an art where each patient paints his or her own mural. I was driven by the need to help both single parents and couples achieve their dream of starting a family and nothing makes me happier than the look on their faces when that becomes a reality.”
What would you say to someone that is struggling to get pregnant to encourage them to take the first step?
“I would want that person to understand that seeing an REI is adding another tool to your reproductive toolkit. It does not mean that you have infertility, or even that you are trying to get pregnant right away. Seeing an REI can be empowering because it represents you taking the first step towards advocating for your reproductive health. REIs are here to help you understand your reproductive potential and plan for the future.”
What most excites you about your work and the contribution you can make?
“Since I grew up in Miami, I am excited to give back to the community that shaped me as a person and helped me grow. I can’t wait to help the women in this area achieve their goals and create the families that they have always dreamed of.”
“I will listen to you and truly try to understand what you’ve been through and where you wish to go. If you give me a chance to help you, I promise to do my best to help your family to the best of my ability.”
