Jenna McCarthy, MD,
completed her undergraduate work at Dartmouth before attending medical
school at the University of Michigan where she graduated with
distinction in research in 2004. Dr. McCarthy then completed a
residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a clinical and research
fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the
University of Michigan Medical Center. She is one of only a handful of
physicians selected by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
to complete her training as a combined, 6 year residency/fellowship.
She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and board eligible
in Reproductive Endocrinology.
As a fellow, Dr McCarthy was
awarded grants from the Fibroid Foundation1 and the National
Institutes of Health2 for her work on uterine muscle stem
cells. She has published numerous articles and co-authored multiple
book chapters on her major research interests including uterine
fibroids, ovarian reserve and fertility preservation. Dr. McCarthy has
presented her research at both national and international meetings.
Dr. McCarthy is a member of
numerous professional societies such as the >American
Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM),
the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), the
American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the
American Medical Association (AMA). She is an ad hoc reviewer for the
International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Medical
Letter.
